Margaret Hamilton Van Sant passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Homestead Manor Assisted Living. She was 92.

Margaret was born June 11, 1925, in West Jefferson, NC, to George and Myrtle Hamilton. She graduated from Kennett Square High School and attended Goldey-Beacom. In 1947, Margaret married Ray Darragh Van Sant, with whom she had one daughter, Susan.

Margaret was employed by the Cecil County Board of Education, from which she retired in 1986. She fondly remembered her days as secretary at Gilpin Manor Elementary School. Margaret was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #84, Elkton.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Susan; her son-in-law, Joseph Anthony; her grandson, Joshua W. Anthony of Easton, MD; her granddaughter, Katherine D. Anthony, Esq., of Baltimore, MD; and her sister, Wilma Van Sant of Elkton, MD.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Darragh; and her brothers, John and George Hamilton.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD. Interment will be in Head of Christiana Presbyterian Cemetery, Newark, DE.
