William Alan Ayers, 78, of Elkton, MD, passed away on September 27, 2023. Born in Washington D.C. on August 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Willard H. and Marie Luehring Ayers.

Bill was a U.S. Marine Reserve, having served from November 1966-March 1972. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 43 years as a Maintenance Supervisor, and graduated in 1963 from Oxford Area High School. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 15, Oxford Masonic Lodge 353, Union Fire Company No.1 of Oxford, and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed Nascar, boating, the Outer Banks, and surf fishing. He will always be in our hearts and missed dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 8 years, Sharon Nelson Goldie-Ayers; son, Wayne Ayers (Holly), North East, MD; two granddaughters, Mia and Brooke Ayers; sister, Nancy Swope (Fred), Oxford, PA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Ayers.

Services will be private.
