Obituary

On March 18th, William "Billy" Anderson, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 79. William was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 20th, 1943, to Marcus Paul and Phyllis "Jean" Barton Anderson. Upon relocating to Delaware with his family, William graduated from Newark High School in 1961. His first work experience was with his father's business, Delaware Air Conditioning. William proudly served in the Delaware National Guard. He worked at Chrysler Motor Corporation in Newark, Delaware until his retirement in 2002.

William enjoyed nature and the outdoors spending time fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America while in high school and won an academic scholarship to an agricultural college. A published poet, he also had a great appreciation for Native American history and art. An auto enthusiast, he restored and enjoyed antique cars and owned several motorcycles. A natural people person, he enjoyed socializing with family and friends and making acquaintances while attending and selling at local flea markets. A lifelong country music fan, his favorite artist and performer was George Jones.

William is survived by his wife Donna B. Anderson of 36 years and his former wife, Barbara J. Anderson and their sons, Kenneth and Todd (Kristen). Surviving beloved step children, Christine Comegys Reiners (Keith) and Robert "Buck" Comegys (Nadir Karara) and his cherished grandchildren, Victoria Reiners and Christopher Reiners. His dear siblings, brother Lee Wayne (Mary) Anderson, and sisters, Paula Anderson Wolkind(George) , Marsha Anderson Brumage(Ernie) and Lisa Anderson Hill (Mike) . Also surviving are a host of special nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921, where visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Interment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
