Walter E. Jermyn
Walter Edward Jermyn, age 80, of Elkton, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Born in Newark, DE, on September 19, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Jessie Irving Jermyn.
Mr. Jermyn was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a retired heavy equipment mechanic. Following retirement, he went to work at Wawa where he made sandwiches, a job he absolutely loved. Mr. Jermyn was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Elkton, where he served as a lay reader for 18 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and VFW Post #8175, Elkton. An avid sports fan, especially the Ravens and Orioles, Mr. Jermyn enjoyed drawing, playing Scrabble and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his daughter, Dorita Jermyn, Elkton, MD; sister, Karen A. Cole and husband, Gordon, Elkton, MD; sister-in-law, Frances Jermyn, Rock Hill, SC; Linda Rawlings; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 105 Bridge St., Elkton, MD 21921. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton. Interment will be private.
