Viola Headrick, 96, of Bear, DE passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Born in Bradshaw, WV on April 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Rhoda Mullins Payne.

Viola had worked for 25 years as a patient escort at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD, where she was known for her kindness, compassion, and dedication to others. Upon her retirement, her spirit of service did not fade. She continued to give back to her community by volunteering for five years at the hospital. A true matriarch, Viola always put others' needs before her own and found great joy in seeing those she loved grow and succeed. She was a devoted and selfless woman whose life was marked by a deep love for her family, friends, and community.

Survivors include her children, Ronnie Taylor, Billy Taylor, Jackie Lynn Nichols, Iris Ann Cathell (Danny), and Willard Scott Headrick; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Willard Lee Headrick; and all 12 of her siblings.

Funeral service will be held 1 PM, Monday, November 18, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 12 PM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
