Sharon "Nanu" Ruby Durkee, 81, of Charlestown, MD passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Born in East Rainelle, WV on August 7, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Rita Marie Asbury.

Mrs. Durkee retired after a lifelong career as a nurse's aide, where she was known for her compassion and warmth. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Mrs. Durkee was proud to serve as a den mother for the Boy Scouts, giving her time and care to support young lives in the community. She enjoyed playing cards, sharing laughs, and attending cookouts with family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Michael S. Durkee; Elkton, MD, Thomas M. Durkee (Marcia), Rowlesburg, WV, Elizabeth L. Durkee, Charlestown, MD; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marshall C. Durkee; children, Marshall C. Durkee II, and Matthew D. Durkee; and brother Lloyd Asbury.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
