Sandra Kay Bays, 78, of Elk Mills, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born in Bellburn, WV on September 1, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Bland Nichols.

Throughout her life, Sandra devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She took great pride in creating a warm, welcoming home and especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. Her passion for arts and crafts lives on in the handmade treasures and memories she leaves behind.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Alva "Darrell" Bays; children, William Bays, Beaumont, TX, Tina Bays, Elk Mills, MD, Vanessa Walker (Joe), Middletown, DE, and James Bays, Elk Mills, MD; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Frank Nichols, Newark, DE, and Dave Nichols (Rhonda), Florida.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be private in Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church at 3141 Old Elk Neck Road, Elkton, MD 21921.
