Obituary

Samantha Brooke Pugh, 34, of Elkton, MD passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Born in Havre De Grace, MD on May 29, 1991, she was the daughter of Mark A. and Janice L. Jones Pugh.

Samantha worked as a financial accountant at Ripken Stadium, where she was respected for her dedication and warm spirit. She was a D-1 softball player in college, and the determination, teamwork, and passion she showed on the field carried throughout her life. Samantha loved watching baseball, fishing, spending time with her family, and being with her dogs, who brought her endless joy. Samantha will be remembered most for her caring heart, loyal nature, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.

Survivors include her sister; Jaime L. Dayton, niece; Rylee L. Dayton, nephew; Cal T. Dayton, fiancé; Shawn M. Missimer, stepdaughter; Haidyn, grandparents; Jim and Barbara Mackenzie, cousins; Jason and Joey Kline, and dog companions; Piper, Copper and Bel.

She is preceded in death by grandmothers; Mary Jones and Carolyn Pugh-Bristow.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, May 22, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cecil County Animal Services Foundation, 3280 Augustine Herman Hwy, Chesapeake City, MD 21915.
