Ronald Robert
Young
October 17, 1943 – November 24, 2024
Ronald Robert Young, 81, of Elkton, MD passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Born in Spruce Pine, NC on October 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Phil and Verna Slagle Young.
Ronald proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970. After his military service, he spent 45 years as a self-employed carpenter and home builder, creating a successful career in the construction industry, having also served as a superintendent for Blenheim Homes. Ronald was also a past member of the Elkton Moose Lodge, where he made lasting friendships through his community involvement. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing. Though, in recent years, he was unable to hunt, he continued to cherish the time spent with his sons during the season, by waiting for them in the truck, eager to hear about their adventures and to see what they had brought back. Ronald also enjoyed reloading and shooting at the gun range. Above all, his greatest passion was caring for his wife, a devoted husband, always putting her needs first. Ronald also found joy in receiving photos of his family members during their travels while vacationing
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Carrico Young; sons, Ronald R. Young II (Angela), Earleville, MD, and William "Chip" Young (Melissa), Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Kendall Young, Nicole Walmsley (Jacob), and Connor Young; nephew, Randall Davis; and sister, Nancy Criddle (Gene), Elkton, MD.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Gwen Maine and Peggy Wiggins.
Funeral service will be held 5 PM, Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation from 3 PM-5 PM. Interment will be private.
