Richard "Dickie"
Bertolet Civita Sr.
March 12, 1937 – April 25, 2026
Richard "Dickie" Civita, age 89, passed away on April 24, 2026, leaving behind a
lifetime of stories, laughter, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. Born on
March 12, 1937, Dickie spent his years doing what he did best—working hard, playing
harder, and making sure everyone around him was having a good time.
Dickie retired from DuPont, where he put in many years of honest work, but if you asked
him, his real career was being a full-time good guy. Whether he had a golf club in his
hands, a fishing line in the water, or a pool cue lined up just right, he was in his
element. He believed life was meant to be enjoyed—and he made sure it was.
He was married to the love of his life, Billie, for 48 years, a partnership built on love,
patience, and a fair share of laughter at his expense. Together they built a family that
carries on his spirit.
Dickie was a proud father of Richard Jr., grandfather to Keri and Morgan, and a great-
grandfather to Michael and Elliott.
He is preceded in death by his parents Carman and Helen and his brothers, Thomas
"Tiny" and Bobby Civita.
In the end, Dickie leaves behind a simple but powerful legacy: be kind, have fun, and
enjoy the ride. If there's a pool table, a fishing hole, or a cold drink nearby—well,
even better.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone lucky enough to call him
family or friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dickie's honor can be sent to Victory Hope Foundation, 39 Open Meadow Ct. Elkton, MD 21921.
