Ralph Harvey Newton, age 79, of Elkton, MD, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Born in Elkton, on May 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Ralph and Evelyn Martindell Newton.

Ralph had been a former police officer for Cecil County Sheriff's Office, and the Elkton Police Department. He had also been a security officer for Thiokol and the Cecil County Courthouse for many years. He was very proud of his years in law enforcement, and Elkton was his life. A member of the Historical Society of Cecil County, Cecil County Farm Museum, National Street Rod Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police, Ralph was a hometown boy that just enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He liked homecooked meals, spending time with friends, going to car shows, taking days trips to Pennsylvania, or Rock Hall, and remembered anyone he had ever met.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 41 years, Paula Henderson Newton; along with many family members and friends, especially the Galyen family.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Donna.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice staff for their exceptional care over the last month.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 West Stockton Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Sharps Cemetery, Fair Hill, MD.
