Phyllis Rae Steward, age 83, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully Monday, December 23, 2024. Born in Montcalm, WV, on June 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Martha Taylor Hill.

Mrs. Steward retired from Gore Manufacturing where she worked as an inspector. She loved spending time with her family, and she enjoyed tending to her lawn and flower garden.

Survivors include her children, Dinah Jones, North East, MD, and Richard Hawkins, Port Deposit, MD; four grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and sisters, Debbie Greenway (Bob), and Lois Conley, both of Elkton, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Steward was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Steward; son-in-law, William Potter; grandson, Richard Hawkins, II; and sister, Margaret Johnson.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2024, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921, where visitation will begin at 10a.m. Interment will be in Rose Bank Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.
