Robinson Jr.

Norman "Butch" Robinson Jr., 82, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, after a lengthy illness and battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Elkton, MD on May 7, 1943, he was the son of the late Norman Sr. and Lucille McCulley Robinson.
Butch was a proud U.S. Army Reserves veteran, having served an impressive 42 years, rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-9). Over the course of his distinguished military career, he held a variety of positions at the Elkton Armory, the Delaware Reserves, and Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was called to active duty during Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield, where he performed critical maintenance operations in support of deployed forces. Alongside his military service, Butch worked for 38 years at Chrysler as a stock chaser. He was a proud and active member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #194. His participation in the Legion's Honor Guard was a deep source of pride, and he took his role in honoring fellow veterans with great seriousness and respect.
Survivors include his children, Robert Robinson, Shannon Robinson, Richard Robinson, and Lori Robinson, and Michelle Laventure; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Debbie Robinson Cline (Donal), and June Cooper Tate (Jack); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Allen Robinson; brothers, Robert Tolliver, Wiley Tolliver, Sgt. George "Dickie" Robinson, James Robinson, and Rodney Robinson.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment with Military Honors will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
