Norma Gay Rookard, 91, of Elkton, MD passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026. Born in Davy, WV on January 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Stonewall J and Opal Lambert Blackwell.

A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Mrs. Rookard was a devoted homemaker, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. She was a longtime member of Maranatha Baptist Church, where she supervised the church nursery for nearly 60 years, nurturing and caring for generations of children with patience and compassion. Mrs. Rookard found great joy in reading, cooking, and sharing meals with others. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, and she delighted in bringing people together around her table.

Survivors include her children; Cathy Rookard, Elkton, MD and Barbara Rookard, Timonium, MD, grandchildren; Brittany Dougherty, Nathaniel Donhowe, Marcus Rasmussen, great-grandson; William Clark, and sister; Rita Klus, Merrillville, IN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Henry M. Rookard Jr., daughter; Debra Rookard, and sisters; Gloria and Wanda.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 27, 2026, at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3141 Old Elk Neck Rd, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
