Staff Sergeant Nathaniel James Walton, 29, of Elkton, MD passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Joint Base Lewis – McChord in Washington. Born in Baltimore, MD on November 18, 1995, he was the son of Jonathan Walton and Lyn Walton.
A graduate of Elkton High School, Nathaniel continued his education at Cecil Community College before answering the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2016, where he served with honor and distinction, completing two deployments in Iraq and Kuwait. Beyond his military service, Nathaniel was an active member of his local Presbyterian Church, where he volunteered regularly and helped lead his peers during community events. His faith, leadership, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
Outside of his duties, Nathaniel enjoyed gaming with friends, golfing, fishing, reading light novels, watching anime, working out, and spending time with his wife and their cats. He was a devoted son and brother, kind-hearted and always ready to lend a hand or offer support to his family. Above all, he was a loving husband whose warmth and loyalty touched everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Meghan, siblings, Jonathan and Talia; step mother, Brandy; grandparents, Gerald, June, and Delores; and his beloved pets, Khadgar, Karazhan, Lucifer, and Ysera; and many family members.
Nathaniel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dean.
Memorial service will be held 2 PM, Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Elkton Presbyterian Church, 209 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 1 PM. Interment with military honors in Baltimore National Cemetery will be private.
