Merritt Donald Treut, age 95 years and 362 days, of North East, MD, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024. Born in Wilmington, DE, on April 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Fred and Essie May Persell Treut.

Mr. Treut was a U. S. Army veteran. He retired as a brick mason from Amtrak Railroad.

Survivors include his children, Donald R. (Lisa), North East, MD, Scott M. (Flora) Elkton, MD, and Douglas G. (Leslie), Selma, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 45 years, Caroline A. McKinney Treut; and brothers, Leon, Lloyd and George Treut.

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 2038 Pleasant Valley Road, Newark, DE 19702, where visitation will begin at 10 A.M. Interment will follow the service in Bay View Cemetery, Bay View, MD.
