Mary Ellen Magaw, 90, of Elkton, MD passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Smith Schultz.

Mary Ellen graduated from Newark High School in Newark, DE in 1954. After graduation, she began her professional career, initially working at Newark High School, where she made lasting memories. In 1968, Mary Ellen took on a new role as the secretary at Cherry Hill Middle School with great dedication until her retirement in 1997, after nearly three decades of service to Cecil County Public Schools. She enjoyed painting, word puzzles and shopping with her friends. Above all, Mary Ellen cherished time spent with her beloved family that brought her the greatest joy.

Survivors include her daughters, Gail Bennett (Charles), North Myrtle Beach, SC and Lisa Shields (Jan), Fair Hill, MD; grandchildren, Lindsay Wyatt (Matthew), Tyler Bennett (Brittany), Chad Shields (Heather), Dustin Shields (Jane), and Jesse Shields; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Charlie, Blake, Summer, Autumn, Ben, Stella, and Grant; and her sister, Barbara Bacchus, Hiawasee, GA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Wallace "Ditty" Magaw Sr.; son, Wallace "Skip" Magaw Jr.; and her brothers, Thomas Schultz and Dick Schultz.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, December 6, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Rosebank Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.
