Obituary

Mary Evelyn Bowser, age 82, of Elkton, MD, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022. Born in Elkton on November 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Luke Jenkins and Evelyn Washington.

Ms. Bowser had worked for Union Hospital as a surgical instrument's technician, before retiring from housekeeping after more than 45 years of service. In her younger years she enjoyed ballet, ice skating, playing softball and basketball. An avid Georgetown Hoyas fan, she loved tending to her flower garden, baking, and bowling. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Some of their fondest memories were on the dance floor, she loved to dance like nobody was watching. Ms. Bowser was a Lifetime movie fanatic who loved playing bingo and going shopping, especially for shoes, handbags, and wigs.

Survivors include her children, Charlestine "Cherry" Thompson, Charles "Brubby" Thompson, Jr., Charlene Wilson (Clyde), Clifton Thompson, Sr., Shelby Hall (Jemaine), and Dee Shaw; grandchildren, Taneka, BJ, George, C.J., Tobias "Toby", Paige, Monique, Dominique, Isaiah, Asia, Shamear, Tawan, Sr., Vernell, Jr. "PJ", and Larry, Jr. "LJ"; great-grandchildren, Tanzania, Troy, TiCia, Tromarri, Tobe, Salem, Tyquan, Tre'quan, London, Kingston, Zayana, Zailyre, Xalon, Syncere, Mia, Little C, Mikayla, Daniel, Tawan, Jr. "TJ", Marquise, Ty, Ciania, Tianna, Eric "Buddy", Amari, Damar, Ky'el, TroyAsia, Khalil, Jayden, Kamryn, Kamil, Isaiah, Bianca, and Aliyah; great-great grandchildren, Tristan, True, Kaza, Milo, Avery, Keith, and Layloni; devoted friend of forty plus years, William Swopshire; and numerous cousins; nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandsons, Clifton Thompson, Jr., and Camari Thompson.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 West Stockton Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 12 noon. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
