Mary (McClements) Evans, age 90, of Elkton, MD, passed away on April 12, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Hartly, DE on August 17, 1930, to the late Joseph McClements and Laura (Drake) McClements. She grew up on a farm in the Dover, DE area. Before moving to Elkton in 1978, she lived in Collins Park, New Castle, DE for 20 years.
Mary graduated from Smyrna High School. She worked at the Delaware Textile Mill, W. T. Grants, Colwyck Junior High School cafeteria and Container Corporation of America, where she was a machine operator for 15 years before retiring in 1994.
Mary enjoyed bowling, fishing, planting and tending to her flowers, going to Delaware Park to watch the horses race, watching game shows and the Philadelphia Phillies games on TV. Her favorite singer was Eddie Arnold, but she also liked Elvis Presley. She was a hard worker and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, Albert, Gilbert and Edward McClements; two sisters, Mable O'Neal and Mildred Evans.
Mary is survived by her husband of 71 years, Virgil H. Evans; two daughters, Barbara Evans of Elkton, MD and Patricia Urbanavage (Wayne) of Chambersburg, PA; two grand-daughters, Mary Mussaw (Adam) of Eldersburg, MD and Reine` Rhine (Jamie) of Shippensburg, PA; three great-grandchildren, Emily and Mason Mussaw and Olivia Rhine, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a "Special Thank You" to the Staff at Amedisys Hospice for the great care and services provided to Mary.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021, 10 A.M. at Hicks Home for Funerals, P.A., 103 West Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921, where a funeral service will follow at 11A.M. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Elkton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's name to Amedisys Foundation, 107 Chesapeake Boulevard, Suite 134, Elkton, MD 21921.
