Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Margaret Scarborough Clayton, passed away following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's dementia, on August 16, 2023 at the age of 93. Born in Providence, MD on October 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Laura Jane Grey Scarborough.

Mrs. Clayton was a retired registered nurse. She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Neil Clayton, Jeff Clayton (Sandy), and Carol DeSpirito (Tony), brother Joseph Scarborough as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Harrison Blair Clayton, daughter Kathleen Clayton, and sister Mary Jane Ewing, and her husband Albert.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10 AM, Friday, September 15, 2023 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.  Burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Singerly Road, Elkton, MD will immediately follow the service.

We would like to thank Brightwater Senior Living, Myrtle Beach, SC and especially the staff on the memory care unit who cared for her as if she was family. Also, thank you to the staff of LifeCare Hospice who provided a peaceful transition to her heavenly home.
