Louise Eileen Northrop, 81, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 18, 2023. Born in Manhattan, NY on April 6, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Louis Roger and Eileen Margaret Crowley Calmel.

Mrs. Northrop was a retired teacher, who taught at numerous New York Public and Catholic Schools and prior to her retirement she taught at Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Elkton, MD. She had her master's degree in history and was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Louise loved teaching all of her students, taking cruises, traveling, visiting historical places, and trying new recipes. Most of all, she cherished time with her family, especially her grandsons, Kent and Max.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, John Kent Northrop; son, John Kent Northrop, Jr. (Stephanie Chiaka Phyllis Nnadi), Lansdowne, PA; grandchildren, Kent Stephen Northrop, Maxwell Calmel Crisostomo Northrop; siblings, Kathleen Elkins, Seal Beach, CA, Michelle Pasquarella, Jackson, NJ, Louis Calmel, CFX, Louisville, KY and Adele Calmel, Fort Lee, NJ.

Her life was rooted in faith and common sense. Her warmth, kindness, generosity, and sense of humor will be missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 9 AM. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026.
