Loretta Cox Christian, 71, of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025. Born in Elkton, MD on September 1, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Sr. and Dorothy Leak Cox.

Loretta dedicated many years of service to the University of Mississippi, where she worked as an assistant secretary. Outside of her professional life, she found joy in the simple beauty of flowers, trees, and wildlife, and she cherished time spent outdoors—whether going for quiet walks or simply enjoying the fresh air. Animals held a special place in her heart, especially her beloved three dogs. Loretta will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Jason Nickle, South Carolina, and Ward Nickle (Paige), California; grandchildren, Amaya, Solana, and Hazel; and her brothers, Ernest Cox Jr. (Christine), Newark, DE, and David Cox, New Mexico.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Audrey Russell, Virginia Brown, Tina Cox-Stanton, and Hobart Cox.

Graveside service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at West Nottingham Cemetery, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, MD 21917.
