Obituary

Linda Mae Cook, 69, of Charlestown, MD, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on November 14, 2025, after bravely fighting a long-term illness. Born in Elkton, MD, on January 20, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Margaret Miles Kirk.

She was an avid fisherwoman who found joy in every sunrise on the water and every quiet moment spent outdoors. She loved all things involving nature, especially the wildlife that visited her backyard. Her family fondly jokes that she is single-handedly responsible for the noticeable obesity of the local animals in Charlestown, MD, who came to rely on her generous feedings.

Linda met the love of her life, her soulmate, Cecil Cook, in December 1972. The connection between them was instant and undeniable, they married just six months later and began life's incredible adventure. Their bond, built on devotion, laughter, and shared strength, remained unshakable through every joy and challenge.

Of all her roles in life, Linda cherished being a mother to her two boys, Cecil Louis and Michael Wayne. She poured her heart into raising them, guiding them, and loving them fiercely. But her greatest joy came later in life when she became Mom-Mom to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she spoiled endlessly with affection, treats, and the kind of love that only she could give.

Linda was a woman of faith and regularly attended Crossroads Bible Church, Elkton, MD. She will always be remembered a family woman and recognized for her independence, dedication, courageousness, kindness, and her love. To be loved by her was not given, it was earned, and once you earned it you knew you had an incredible person on your side. She will be missed immensely and remembered always.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Cecil W. Cook; sons, Cecil Cook (Jessica) and Michael W. Cook (Jennifer); grandchildren, Cory Cook (Lindsey), Jasmine Archut (Tyler), Gabrielle Cook, Natalie Cook, Jacob Cook, Mackenzie Cook, Avreigh Cook, Gabriel Cook, and Dylan Cook; great-grandchildren, Remington, Colton and Lacey; and siblings, Phylis Stewart, Lisa Upchurch, Leslie Simpers, Timmy Kirk.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bobby Kirk, Gladys Wright, Patsy Wright, Janie Wright, and Shirley Merchant.
