Leonito Ynciong Leonardo, 91, of Elkton, MD passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Born in Manila, Philippines on October 29, 1933, he was the son of the late Filemon and Andrea Ynciong Leonardo.
Leonito dedicated much of his life to the pursuit of knowledge. He enjoyed a long and accomplished career as a chemical engineer and had previously served as a university professor, where he inspired countless students. Beyond his professional life, Leonito was a man of many joys. He shared a deep love of ballroom dancing with his wife, a pastime they cherished together. He found peace in fishing, was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, and enjoyed exploring the world of YouTube—always eager to learn something new or simply be entertained. Leonito will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Dr. Elsa de Jesus Leonardo; children, Elna Marie Leonardo, Lago Vista, TX, and John Lancelot Leonardo, Etobicoke, Canada; grandchildren, Juliana Stolinski Leonardo and Joseph Stolinski Leonardo; in-laws, Felipe and Naty Crisostomo, Leesburg, FL, Edgar and Clarita de Jesus, Hunt Valley, MD, and Rogelio de Jesus, Pandi, Philippines; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Socorro Rodriguez, and brother, Jaime Leonardo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, May 30, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation from 9:00–10:45 AM in the Church Chapel. Interment will be private.
