Lawrence Dwight Fleming, 76, of Elkton, MD passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. Born in Grundy, VA on April 4, 1948, he was the son of the late Arlin and Emma Reed Fleming.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Lawrence was also a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church in Hope Mills, North Carolina, and Fellowship Baptist Church in Elkton, Maryland. After a successful career at Chrysler, Lawrence retired in 2000 after 33 years of service. In his retirement, Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his family, staying active in his church, and living a life full of love and joy. He will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his children; Michele Bailey (Jesse Hess) and Lawrence D. Fleming II; grandchildren, Kelsey Roark (Johnny Miller, III), Stephanie Fleming, A.J. Fleming, and Kamber Fleming; great-grandsons, Brantley Miller, Maverick Miller, and Charles Miller; and sisters, Phyllis Simpkins and Marlene Moore.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Linda Fleming.
Funeral service will be held 2 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Interment will be private.
