Larry Allen Shellender, 77, of Elkton, MD passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Born in Rising Sun, MD on March 2, 1948, he was the son of the late Harry Shellender and Elizabeth Adams Bryan.

Larry had retired after many dedicated years as a meter reader for Delmarva Power. From 1974 to 1982, he served as a coach and athletic director at Elkton Christian School, where he made a lasting impact on countless young athletes. A lifelong sports fan, Larry especially loved cheering for the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Ravens. His greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, always their biggest supporter from the sidelines. Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Donna Ayers Shellender; children, Stephen Shellender (Lorie), Salem, NJ, and Lori McKay (J.P.), Wilmington, DE; stepdaughter, Noelle Sterling (Edward), Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren, Audrey, Anthony, and Ava; 5 great-grandchildren; and his beloved K-9 companion, golden retriever Sophie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Shellender.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Crossroads Bible Church, 144 Appleton Road, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Elkton Little League, Attn: Timothy Eller at P.O. Box 75, Elkton, MD 21922.
