Kay Ellen Down, age 78, of Elkton, MD, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Born on December 24, 1946, in Elkton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Betty Simmons Eder.

Mrs. Down was an information technology specialist at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. She loved spending time with family, crafting, decorating her home, and watching Christmas movies. Mrs. Down enjoyed taking trips to Ocean City, MD and Disney World.

Survivors include her children, John Keenan, Elkton, MD, Christine Caudillo, Elkton, MD, and Joseph Juergens, Port Deposit, MD; grandchildren, John Keenan, Jr., Sean Keenan, Erica Keenan, April Hodgson, Sierra Baldwin, Zachery Baldwin, Joseph Juergens, III, Natalie Cole, Amaiya Juergens, Colton Juergens, and Renae Juergens; several great grandchildren; and sisters, Laura Ferro, Elkton, MD and Margaret Ward, Bay View, MD.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, John A. Down and grandson, Christopher Baldwin.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2024, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921 with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
