Karen Renee Angelo, 63, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Born on February 22, 1962, in Milford, DE, she was the daughter of Betty Walls Hales and Raymond H. Hales Sr., and the late Richard E. Wyatt.
Karen was a devoted and compassionate nurse for over 43 years. She was widely respected and recognized for clinical excellence throughout her career at Christiana Hospital and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center.
Karen embraced life fully and joyfully. She loved gardening, scrapbooking, reading, crocheting, boating, fishing and crabbing, gathering sea glass, and traveling—especially to her favorite places, Bethany Beach, DE, and Rodanthe, NC. She was happiest anywhere she could put her feet in the sand.
Karen will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
In addition to her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her children, Jason D. Angelo (Jason Bennett), Justin A. Angelo (Nicole), and Jennifer N. Angelo (Joseph); brothers, Kevin R. Wyatt, Raymond H. Hales Jr. (Wendy), and Chris A. Hales (Shelley); sister, Sally A. O'Brien (Kevin); nephews and niece; and fiancé, Daniel E. Howell.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Judy A. Wyatt; and her beloved brother, Kenneth R. Wyatt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 AM, on Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE 19702, with visitation at the church from 9:45 AM to 11:15 AM. Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, or to Faithful Friends Animal Society, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, P.A. at 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
