Judy Marie Cissel, 76, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Born in Elkton, MD on March 10, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Roland Simpers and Estella Lotman.

A true matriarch and the glue of the family, Judy was a beloved mother, granny, mother-in-law, mother figure, aunt, sister, "Uncle Judy," and friend. Her devotion to her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. A woman of grace and strength, she lived a life filled with love and compassion. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her generosity and caring spirit. Judy's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Survivors include her children, Susette M. Pfaff (Michael) and Derrick Cissel; grandchildren, Megan Pyle, Mikaela Pfaff, Joshua Pfaff, Andrew Cissel, Jared Cissel, Austin Cissel, Kira Cissel, Kaden Cissel, and Austin Teahl; her siblings, Elsie Prevento, Roger Simpers, and Alfred Simpers; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Cissel.

Funeral service will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 12 PM. Interment will be private.
