Obituary

Joseph D. Quinn, Jr., age 75, of Elkton, MD, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 from Covid-19. Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 18, 1946, he was the son of the late Joseph Sr., and Helena Mastella Quinn.

Mr. Quinn proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired after 34 years from Septa Transportation Company, Philadelphia, PA, where he was a supervisor. He was a well loved and respected boss who rose through the ranks to become an executive that managed the heavy equipment and maintenance yard at 2 nd and Wyoming, Philadelphia, PA. He was a respected boss who was admired for his caring and cheerful personality. He was a wonderful brother to all 8 of his siblings, but especially close to his sisters, Helena and Elvira.  Mr. Quinn had been an avid dog training specialist who ran the Mid Atlantic poodle trials. He had also been involved in the Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Irish Water Spaniel Clubs. Even after his retirement Mr. Quinn trained several dogs for his clients who appreciated his gentle and thorough ways. His true passion was being a father and husband. He was dedicated to his family and never missed a sporting event for his kids. Mr. Quinn loved shopping and watching movies with his children, and driving his children to and from school every day.

Survivors include his loving wife of 16 years, Loura Waid-Quinn; children, Michelle Miller, Cheyenne Quinn, and Joseph Donald Quinn, III; siblings, Helena Murray (David), Elvira McKenna (Charles), Catherine Kelley (Roy), Daniel Beerhalter (Margie), Richard Beerhalter (Leah), and Christina Beerhalter (Tom).

In addition to his parents, Mr. Quinn was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter, Michael, and Martin Beerhalter, and Raymond; and step father, Daniel Beerhalter.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Church, 455 Bow Street, Elkton, MD  21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his widow, Loura Waid-Quinn, 216 East Pulaski Highway, Elkton, MD  21921
