John Kevin King, 78, of Milton, DE passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. Born in Wilmington, DE on May 7, 1948, he was the son of the late John Paul and Helen Gallaher King.
Mr. King retired from Amtrak after many years of dedicated service as a Senior Track Designer. He was a proud member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Milton, Delaware. He enjoyed spending time fishing, camping, wood carving, and was a ham radio enthusiast. Mr. King was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and his greatest joy in life was his family. They were his biggest priority, and he loved and cherished each of them deeply.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years; Linda Rivera King, children; Peter Gregory King (Katie), Falls Church, VA and John Patrick King (Belky), Herndon, VA, their mother; Laurel Gitney King, grandchildren; David King, Nathan King and Henry King, siblings; Gregory King, Parkton, MD, Mary Ellen King, Milton, DE, Elsie Harrigan, Elkton, MD, Daniel King, Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Sam King (Cheryl), Fairfax, VA, and brother-in-law; Mike Boyle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters; Susan Boyle, Colleen Blake, and Rebecca Allen.
Funeral service with military honors will be held 11 AM, Monday, July 13, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be private in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Elkton, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
