Obituary

John Joseph Gill, 73 of Elkton, MD passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Born in Altoona, PA on July 6, 1952, he was the son of the late James M. and Louise Fabian Gill.

John retired after many years of service as an engineer at DuPont. He enjoyed boating, spending time in his garden, and fishing. John also cherished family vacations and loved spending time at the beach with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hardworking nature, and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years; Mary Grace Ott Gill, children; Carolyn Ireland (Michael), Elkton, MD, Kimberly McKinnon (John), Newark, DE, and Catherine Talbott (Charles), Forest Hill, MD, grandchildren; Katelyn, Michaela and Evan Ireland, Ainsley and Kiera McKinnon, Harrison, Isla and Addy Talbott, siblings; Janice Flaugh (Gene), Orangeville, PA, Marjorie Kazlauskas (John), Richmond, VA, Thomas Gill (Nancy), Mechanicsburg, PA, Joanne Rogers, Sewickley, PA, and Teresa Campbell (Bill), Lakewood Ranch, FL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother-in-law, Jerry Rogers, and infant twin brothers, James and Joseph Gill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, May 22, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM in the Church Chapel. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Inc, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
