Rev. John A. Finn, O.S.F.S., a professed member of the Wilmington-Philadelphia Province of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales for 68 years, died on September 10, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, to Dominick and Bridie (O'Sullivan) Finn on June 16, 1933, he attended Corpus Christi Elementary School and entered the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales after graduating from Northeast Catholic High School in 1952.

Fr. Finn earned an AB in Latin from Niagara University and an MS in Classical Studies from the University of Michigan. He studied theology at DeSales Hall School of Theology in Washington, DC, and was ordained a priest on June 2, 1962.

Fr. Finn was engaged in secondary education for twenty-five years, serving at both Father Judge and Northeast Catholic in Philadelphia, PA as well as St. Francis de Sales High School in Toledo, OH. In 1987 he left secondary education and spent the next eighteen years of his priesthood ministering as a full-time hospital chaplain in Wilmington, DE. Fr. Finn retired in 2005 and was most recently assigned to the Oblate community at Childs, MD.

Fr. Finn was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Fr. Dominick Finn, O.S.F.S., and his sister, Mary J. Corlies. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Mr. Edwin Corlies.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 15 in the Oblate daily chapel at Annecy Hall, Childs, MD. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:30 AM with interment immediately following at the Oblate cemetery.
