John K. Barrow, 87, of Childs, MD, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Barrow was born in Childs on May 20, 1934, the son of the late Robert and Eva Rink Barrow. He was a 1952 graduate of Elkton High School. During his life, he served in the United States Army in the Signal Corps. He also played baseball for the army and participated in games across Germany, as well as in Massachusetts. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he worked 34 years at the DuPont Stine-Haskell site in Newark, DE, where he was a lab technician. He enjoyed playing baseball, dancing, building things, working in the yard, telling jokes, and spending time with family. John was devoted to his family and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by a son, Mark Barrow and his wife, Betty, Goodlettsville, TN; a daughter, Sandra Kisner and her husband, Dwayne, Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Christopher "CJ" Barrow (Hannah), Kathleen, Michelle, and Timothy Kisner, and Corinne and Adam Kaminski; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Hanna Kaminski.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Barrow was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Barbara A. Williams Barrow; brothers, Arthur "Bose", Robert, Clark, Richard, Donald, Lewis, and Ellis "Pete" Barrow; and a sister, Eva Barrow. All eight of the Barrow brothers proudly served in the U.S. military.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Brookview Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John may be made to Seasons Hospice, in care of the funeral home at the above address.
