JoAnn Sandra Benscoter, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Born in Luzerne County, PA, on September 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Alta Kichner Naugle.

Mrs. Benscoter retired after working as a secretary and bookkeeper for various businesses. Along with her husband, she was a member of the country western band The Nashville Sounds for 30 years. She delivered flowers to local nursing homes and was a member of the Walk Our Land Walking Group hosted by the Newark Senior Center.

Survivors include her children, Linda Ragan (Don), Elkton, MD, Lori Benscoter, and Lisa Cornett (Robert), both of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Sarah Fitzpatrick (Fred), James Ragan(Myranda), Amanda Masten (Terry), Robert Cornett, III, and Steven Cornett; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Benscoter; grandson, Donald Ragan, III; and brother, Jerry Naugle.

Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, February 21, 2022, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment information will be forthcoming.
