Jeanne L. Smith, 74, of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on February 15, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William and Jean Watson Stoppel.

A self-employed seamstress, Mrs. Smith retired due to health issues. She then became an administrator for Senior Living. She loved being with her family and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and researching genealogy. Another of her favorite things to do was baking; she was well known for her pies!

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, James A. Smith; children, Kathy Heath (Bill), Elkton, MD, and Jamie Smith, Cochranville, PA; sister, Marsha Prescott (Joe), Port Deposit, MD; aunt, Josephine Coates, Elizabethtown, PA; grandchildren, Tara, Ian, Chase, Victoria, Cole, and Evyn; and great grandchildren, Allie, Kaylee, and Rylee.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Stoppel.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2022, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 West Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921, where visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Interment in Sharps Cemetery, Fair Hill, MD, will be private.
