Janet Kay McConnell, 83, of Elkton, MD passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Born in Circleville, OH on December 16, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Opal Hedrick Schwalbauch.

Mrs. McConnell retired after a dedicated career as an LPN, caring for others with compassion and kindness throughout her life. She loved playing scratch-offs, bingo, and the slot machines, and she was always ready to share a good story or a home-cooked meal. Mrs. McConnell was a proud member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Rising Sun Post #194, the Elkton VFW Post 8175, and the Elkton Moose Lodge #851, where she made many lifelong friends.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Earl McConnell, sister, Roberta McKinney (Shelby), and nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Sr. and Carl Schwalbauch.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elkton, MD.
