James Casen, Sr.
James Casen, Sr., age 88, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, after a long illness. He was born in Savannah, GA, on March 22, 1926.
Mr. Casen was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Supply Agency, Philadelphia, after 30 years of service. Mr. Casen was a member of Faith City Church, Christiana, DE. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He also enjoyed participating in programs and activities sponsored by the Veterans Administration Veterans Outreach Center and the Veterans Administration. Mr. Casen cherished spending time with his family and friends, especially his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, James Casen, Jr. and wife, Paulette, Elkton, MD; brother, Herbert Casen, Philadelphia, PA; several grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and close friend, Ruth Lambert.
Mr. Casen was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelyn Evangeline Casen; mother, Annie Mae Brown; and daughter, Vivian Casen.
Funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m, Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in care of the funeral home.
