James P. Smith, Jr. "J.P.", 66, of Elkton, MD, passed away November 5, 2023. Born on November 6, 1956, he was the son of the late James Paul and Mary Ellen Vance Smith.

Mr. Smith retired from DuPont in the shipping and receiving department. He loved his family and was very passionate about playing softball as he played on the Senior Softball team winning the World Series in 2016. Mr. Smith was an active member of Crossroads Bible Church and enjoyed fishing and camping in his spare time.

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Sharon Kay Shephard Smith; children, Tiffany Smith, Thomas "T.J." Smith (Crystal), both of Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kayleigh, Layden, Madison, Robbie; siblings, Diana Baugher, Gary Smith, Annette Pfeiffer, and Tommy Smith, all of Elkton, MD.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, November 10, 2023 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
