James W. Romanek, 87, of Elkton, MD passed away on Sunday March 15, 2026. Born in Elkton, MD on November 12, 1938, he was the son of the late James J. and Lena Sacconey Romanek.

Mr. Romanek was longtime Elkton resident and owner of Elkton Car Wash for 61 years. Family was the center of his life. Mr. Romanek treasured time spent with his loved ones and especially enjoyed bringing everyone together. He loved cooking for family gatherings and special events, often showing his care through the meals he prepared. Outside of his family, Mr. Romanek was a proud member of Jay-Cees for many years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Fran Romanek, children; Tina M, Gibson and Cynthia L. Romanek, grandchildren; Derek Hokuf, Samuel Hokuf (Samantha), Anna Hokuf, Lydia Miller (Jacob), James Gibson (Valerie), Andrew Gibson, Mark Gibson (Megan), Ethan Gibson (Lalah), Emma Jenkins, and Molly Brittingham, great-grandchildren; Willam and Matthew, siblings; Joyce Romanek, and Jean Broomell, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter; Valerie B. Hokuf, siblings; Joesph Romanek and Joan Hall.

Visitation will be held 11 AM, Monday, March 23, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with funeral service beginning at 1 PM. Interment will be private.
