James Robert Wood, 95, of Elkton, MD passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Born in Meadowview, VA on July 17, 1931, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Callie Bryant Wood.

Mr. Wood was the proud owner and operator of Jim’s Barber Shop in Elkton, where he welcomed generations of customers. He truly loved his work and took great pride in serving the community he called home. Outside of his professional life, he found joy in gardening, tending to both a flower and vegetable garden.

Survivors include his grandchildren; Amy Hymer, Billy Trice IV (Jessy), Billy Wood, Johnny Wood, and Kaitlyn Wood, great-grandchildren; Hanna Gomez, Sierra Barton, Crissandra Hymer, Lucas Dickens, JW Dickens, Hadley Wood, and William Trice V, and great-great-grandchildren; Emmanuel, Aurora, Luna, Lorenzo, Leo, J.J., Grace, Clara, Isaac, Mateo, Emiliano and Silas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by children; Robin Holding and Billy Wood Sr., first wife; Betty J. Wood, second wife; Marie M. Wood, third wife; Wilma “Billie” Wood, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral service with military honors will be held 11:30 AM, Monday, August 17, 2026, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
