James Lee McKeever, 68, of Rising Sun, MD went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 20, 2023. Born in Akron, OH on July 19, 1955, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Phelps McKeever.
Jim graduated from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN in 1978 with a Bible degree. While at Tennessee Temple, he met the love of his life, Sondra, they were later married on December 16, 1978. Jim served in a church in Illinois as a Christian School Administrator. They then moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where Jim graduated from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in 1986 with a Master of Religious Education. He served at Riverbend Baptist Church as a Children's Church Leader, Youth Leader, and then Pastor of Christian Education.
Jim was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in 1993. Due to his health issues, they moved to Maryland to live on the England family farm, where Jim had the honor of staying home to raise their two sons. He was an active member of Crossroads Bible Church serving as a Deacon for many years, he also sang in the church choir as well as performing solos during the church services.
Jim will be remembered for his faith in God, his dry humor, and his puns. He had a deep love for history, reading, baseball, football, and southern gospel music. He also enjoyed Fantasy Football and was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan.
Jim is finally free from pain and suffering. He is now healed and walking the streets of Heaven.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Sondra England McKeever; children, Nathan McKeever (Rebecca), Bryan McKeever; five grandchildren; siblings, John McKeever, Akron, OH, Ruth Koonce (Mike), Pennsylvania, Jerry McKeever (Michelle), Akron, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Billie and Lola.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Crossroads Bible Church, 144 Appleton Road, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Rose Bank Cemetery, Calvert, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Bible Church at the above address.
