James D. Baker, II
James Dana Baker, II, age 42, of Smyrna, DE, beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday, September 16, 2013. Born in Elkton, MD, on December 6, 1970, he was the son of James D. and Wendy Lawson Baker, North East, MD.
Mr. Baker was a dedicated employee at the DuPont Experimental Station, where he worked for 22 years as an environmental specialist. He was devoted to his family and adored his daughters. He loved his friends and laughing. An avid and competitive weightlifter, he enjoyed reading and speaking the Bible, watching movies, reading Steven King and Dean Koontz novels, painting and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of 21 years, Jamie Evans Baker; daughters, Hannah and Ragan Baker; sisters, Peggy L. Sullenberger and husband, Joseph, Elkton, MD, and Dawn R. Kampes and husband, John, Colora, MD; niece and nephews, Steven, Cassidy, Kelly, Aaron, Johnny and Calen; father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Hannah Evans; brother- and sister-in-law, Doug and Lisa Evans; and many friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, September 20, 2013, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD, will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Baker Children Trust Fund, in care of the funeral home.
