Obituary

Irving Wade Webber, 89, of Elkton, MD passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Born in Wilmington, DE on December 7, 1934, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Mildred Webber.

During his high school years, Irving moved with his family to Elkton, where he attended West Nottingham Academy. He cherished his family and enjoyed a variety of activities, including running, sailing, fishing, skiing, hiking, and woodworking. Irving was a dedicated member of the Elkton community, volunteering for over 30 years at Singerly Fire Company and had also been an active member of Elkton United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir. His caring nature shone through in his various roles, such as leading Boy Scouts, coaching youth sports, and fostering a love of sports and activity in his children. He also enjoyed traveling and vegetable gardening.

Professionally, Irving had a long career in education, primarily teaching in the Delaware Public School system. He had also worked at the Delaware Department of Employment, helping others in their careers.

We ask all who knew and loved Irving to take a moment to remember him in your hearts. His impact on so many lives will be cherished for generations.

Survivors include his children, David, Karen, and Patricia; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Webber; and his sister, Joan Orso.

Graveside service will be held 1 PM, Friday, July 19, 2024 at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, 198 Appleton Road, Elkton, MD 21921.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Singerly Fire Company at 300 Newark Avenue, Elkton, MD 21921.
