Dunlap

Irene Marie Dunlap, age 93, of Elkton, MD, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025. Born in Elkton, on November 28, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Esther Vandegrift Cebula.
In additional to her parents, Mrs. Dunlap was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Samuel Dunlap, Sr., and beloved son, Charles Samuel Dunlap, Jr., her siblings, Emily Reeves, Frank Cebula, Esther McCall, Robert "Dippy" Cebula, Lillian Clarke, Victor Cross and Collins Cross.
Mrs. Dunlap retired as a senior buyer from Thiokol Corporation after 35 years of service. She was also Vice President of her and her husband's trucking business, C. S. Dunlap Trucking Co., Inc. for more than 60 years. She was a devoted member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully as secretary of both the Gleaners and the Tele-care Committee. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Thiokol Bowling League and the Thursday Night Ladies Bowling League at Cecil Lanes. Mrs. Dunlap found joy in many hobbies, including gardening, boating, and traveling with her family. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan and liked going to the games. She enjoyed watching The Golden Girls, playing cards and board games with her family. She especially cherished summer trips to Rehoboth Beach and Sunday drives with her late husband in their classic cars.
A very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Irene Gibson and husband, Cossie, Elkton, MD; three grandchildren, Charles Cossie Gibson, Judith Irene Swyka, and Julianne Renee Gibson; as well as two great-granddaughters, Julianna Marie Swyka and Laina Marie Gibson; her brother, Stanley Cebula and brother-in-law and wife, Howard and Sandra Dean, Elkton, MD; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Interment will follow the service in Elkton Cemetery, Elkton, MD.
