Obituary

Harry William Bell, Sr., 87, of Elkton, MD, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022. Born in Piedmont, WV, on July 7, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Erma Ward Bell.

Mr. Bell was a member of the United States Army National Guard and retired as an independent contractor in the painting industry. An avid bowler and softball player, he also enjoyed coaching softball and baseball teams. A Boston Red Sox fan and sponsor for semi-pro baseball, Mr. Bell played an integral part in establishing and founding the Highlands County Sports Complex in Sebring, FL.

Survivors include his children, Harry Bell, Jr., Middletown, DE, Donna Bell-Hayes, Karyn Riddle, and David Bell, all of Elkton; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, the late Rhea Putt Bell; and all of his siblings.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2022, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 West Stockton Street, Elkton, MD  21921, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Elkton Little League; or to Singerly Fire Company, in care of the funeral home at the above address.
