Gerardo Javier Valladares, age 55, of Chesapeake City, MD, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Costa Rica on March 26, 1956, he was the son of Grace Bermudez Valladares, Chesapeake City, MD and the late Hugo Z. Valladares.

Mr. Valladares worked for Cecil County Parks and Recreation. He had attended Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton, and enjoyed his time spent with family and friends. He was very active in the Cecil Soccer League as a coach, referee, and volunteer and enjoyed playing softball and soccer.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his children, Robby Valladares, Elkton, MD, Alex Valladares, Pennsville, NJ, Natalie Valladares, Chesapeake City, MD and Karly and Drew Valladares, Pennsville, NJ; siblings, Carolina Valladares, Chesapeake City, MD, Ana Bossman, Yorktown, VA, Ed Valladares, Elkton, MD and Raul Valladares, Middletown, DE. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Valladares was preceded in death by his father and also his brother, Hugo G. Valladares.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church, 455 Bow Street, Elkton. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, October 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cecil Soccer League in care of the funeral home at the above address.
