Gerald Potts Sr., 82, of Rising Sun, MD passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 9, 2026. Born in Elkton, MD on June 27, 1943, he was the son of the late William E. Potts and Anna Logan Potts Alexander.

Gerald was a graduate of North East High School in 1961. After high school he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served for 6 years. Gerald retired from General Motors after 32 ½ years of loyal service. Upon retirement he worked alongside his son, Jerry, performing carpentry work for several years. Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkton where he served as a deacon for many years. Gerald found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially gardening, spending time with his family, and relaxing while watching classic westerns and law enforcement shows.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Belva Kaye Pulice Potts, sons; Jerry Potts (Sharon), Elkton, MD and Tony Potts (Kathy), Port Orange, FL, grandchildren; Tashina (Owen), Carter and Paxton, sister; Sandy Alexander, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings; Jack Potts, Orville Potts, Richard Potts, Janet Kelly, and Vaughn Potts.

Funeral service will be held 1 PM, Friday, February 13, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Elkton, 607 Delaware Avenue, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 12 PM. Interment will be private in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
