George Walter Rhoades, Sr., 88, of North East, MD passed away Friday, December 15, 2023. Born in Elkton, MD on May 10, 1935, he was the son of the late George Rhoades and Florence Simpers.

Mr. Rhoades retired as a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator from W.C. Logan & Sons, he also enjoyed farming in his younger years.

Survivors include his sons, George W. Rhoades, Jr. (Diane), Richard L. Rhoades (Tammy), both of Elkton, MD, Frederick G. Rhoades (Darlene Hollobaugh), North East, MD; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Edgar Rhoades (Cookie), Elkton, MD, and Dean Rhoades (Sally), Chesapeake City, MD.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty L. Rhoades; children, Loretta Mae Rhoades Rock, Jeffrey Allen Rhoades; grandson Charles W. Gifford; siblings, Lester, John, Dorothy, and Patsy.

Funeral service will be held 2:30 PM, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
