George Alan Dilks, 58, of Sudlersville, MD passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Born in Elkton, MD on October 1, 1966, he was the son of Betty Smith Shelby (Bill Shelby) and the late Alan Dilks.

George was best known as the owner and operator of his own business, A+ Carpet Care, where he proudly served the community for many years before retiring. His love for trucks and restoring engines was matched only by his creativity, which he expressed through his hobbies of woodcarving, painting, and drawing. A true animal lover, George had a soft spot for English Bulldogs. He cherished his furry companions and enjoyed their loyal company throughout his life.

Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Ida Gorman Dilks; children, Ashlie Marshall, Wilmington, DE, Stephanie Smith (Brian), Mt. Juliet, TN, and Will Calder (Justine), Sudlersville, MD; 8 grandchildren, Josephine, Wyatt, Jayce, Austin, Noah, Rebekah, Brice, and Mia; and brother, Jim Shelby, Hurlock, MD.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, January 17, 2025 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
